WNC-MOAA Member Bob Johnson’s Vision Realized: The Henderson County Wall of Honor

On August 15, 2024, the long-anticipated Henderson County Wall of Honor was officially unveiled at the

Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans Center in Hendersonville, NC. This meaningful project, led by

WNC-MOAA Chapter member Bob Johnson, has been years in the making and now stands as a lasting tribute to the

veterans of Henderson County.

The Wall of Honor features shadow boxes displaying veterans' ribbons and badges,

recognizing their dedication and service. Created by members of VFW Post 5206, this display offers a

visible and lasting tribute to those who have worn the uniform in defense of our nation.

Wall of Honor Details

  • Eligibility: Open to active, reserve, and National Guard members who served during

peacetime or war. Families may also sponsor deceased veterans.

  • How to View: Located at 900 N. Main Street, Hendersonville, visitors are welcome to

see the display at the Veterans Center.

  • Purpose: The wall serves as a tribute to local veterans and fosters a

    sense of community and remembrance.

  • Ongoing Expansion: Additional shadow boxes will be added over time as more veterans are honored.

This project is a powerful reminder of service and sacrifice, and we commend Bob Johnson and all those involved

for their dedication to preserving the legacy of Henderson County’s veterans. A similar Wall of Honor also exists within

Henderson County Public Schools, honoring veterans who continue to serve their community.

WNC-MOAA is proud to support initiatives like this that recognize and honor those who have served.

We encourage all members and the public to visit the Wall of Honor and reflect on the stories of the brave men and women it represents.
