President‘s Welcome

Welcome to WNC-MOAA and our website!

Welcome to the Western North Carolina Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, an Affiliate of national MOAA. WNC-MOAA has been supporting the active-duty, retired, and former uniformed military officers, their family members, and surviving spouses in western North Carolina since we were founded in 1968 and incorporated as an affiliate into MOAA, then called The Retired Officers Association (TROA) in 1969.

MOAA is the nation's largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization.

We encourage you to join our 5-Star chapter for the camaraderie, the adventure of contributing to our beautiful Western North Carolina communities, or to actively preserve the resources required to maintain our armed forces at a high level of readiness and benefit matters for all members of the military community. Additionally, we provide expert advice and guidance to our members.

Membership in WNC-MOAA Chapter and MOAA National are nonpartisan and open to present and former commissioned officers and warrant officers (including retirees) with honorable service in any of the United States' eight uniformed services (including National Guard and Reserves): Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, U.S. Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

If you are an active duty, retired, former officer or surviving spouse from one of the uniformed services. Please join our vibrant local chapter and add additional volume to MOAA’s powerful voice. JOIN WNC-MOAA
